Dr. Carlson received his Doctor of Philosophy from the Institute for Public Health Genetics in the School of Public Health at the University of Washington (UW) (2007) and conducted his postdoctoral training in health economics and outcomes research (2007-2009) in the UW Comparative Health Outcomes, Policy and Economics (CHOICE) Institute. He has diverse formal training in economic evaluation, decision modeling, discrete choice experiments, comparative effectiveness, outcomes research, and public health genetics. He is the lead scientist for the CHOICE Institutes’ six-year collaboration with the Institute for Clinical and Economic Review (ICER), leading teams developing over 22 cost-effectiveness models as part of ICER health-assessment technology reports. He serves on ICER’s health economics council, informing value framework methodologies and served on the Premera Blue Cross Value Assessment Committee. Dr. Carlson serves as a Professor at the CHOICE Institute.
